It’s with mixed emotions that we announce Louis Chadwick will be departing Royston Town having been recalled by parent club Cambridge United.

Since joining us from Cambridge United, Louis has been a rock at the back for the Crows. His exceptional shot-stopping, commanding presence and last-minute equalising headers have been instrumental in our climb up the table this year.

First Team manager Chris Watters commented:

“There was nothing but a sense of happiness for Chadders when I got the phone call from Cambridge United to explain that they’d be recalling him. Yes, it means we won’t finish the campaign with him; however, I’m made up for him that he’ll be sitting on the bench at Barnsley next week.

It’s an experience and reward that he has been patient for and he’s very deserving of it.

I’m really grateful to Cambridge United for loaning him to us and trusting us to aid his development. Hopefully, he’s learnt a thing or two and it’s good to have been a part of his journey. There’s no doubt in my mind that his last-minute headed equaliser away at Coalville when we were down to 9 men was the catalyst for a change in our fortunes. That moment galvanised the squad and we went on a fantastic run afterwards.

Good luck, Chadders and remember… Once a Crow, Always A Crow”

""

Jason Maguire, Crows goalkeeping coach added

“After working with Louis briefly last season when he came in to cover when Dimi was injured we knew we had to bring him in when he became available in pre-season.

For a young keeper his distribution is fantastic and this he has the right attitude and level of professionalism to go on have a really good career in the game. He’s kept us in games this season with vital saves and the goal against Coalville will live on in Crow’s folklore. We’ll stay in touch, and he knows I’m available for any advice he needs anytime.”

""

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Louis for his dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude throughout his time here. He’s been a great teammate and a firm fan favourite, and we wish him all the very best for the future.

We’d also like to thank Cambridge United for allowing Louis to gain valuable experience with us both this season and last.

We have no doubt that Louis has a bright future ahead of him, and we’ll all be following his career with interest and look forward to welcoming him back to Garden Walk someday!
